DuKane Corp Microphone Model 7C4Q

by Jennifer Kopas
(Crown Point, Indiana)

I came into possession of this old microphone made by DuKane Corporation of Lake Charles, Illinois. I found a model number on it, 7C4Q, but no date anywhere. I'm trying to find out when it was made. I don't have a picture yet, but it looks to be from the 30's or 40's. I'm hoping to find out its value as well. Any information you could provide would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks!

DuKane 7C40 & Astatic DN-50 & DN-HZ
by: Anonymous

That is correct, the model listed is the wrong number.

It is the DuKane Model 7C40, all numerals with the exception of the "C".

I have one myself. It does resemble identically an Astatic Corp mic, but not the D104.

It is identical looking to the Astatic DN-50 Low Impedance Mic and the DN-HZ High Impedance Mic. It uses the same "G stands" as the Astatic mics as well.

I believe it is a "private label" microphone, made by Astatic for another company---DuKane.

Other manufacturers did the same thing, like Turner. They made many versions of the Turner Plus 2 or 3 for other radio companies to their specifications, remaining identical looking to the original Turner design but perhaps with different paint schemes or labeling.

I am trying to find out specifically what element the DuKane 7C40 microphone uses---the one made for the DN-50 or the DN-HZ ? Or perhaps another entirely? Hope to find out. Hope this clarified things a little.

Here is an URL link to my online photo account showing two sets of photos of Dukane microphones, both the DuKane 7B40 and DuKane 7C40 microphones. Enjoy.

I have found a DuKane mic model #7A16C. I am looking for a 4 prong mic cord to go with it.

Your 4-pin cable type
by: Anonymous

If it is a 4-pin cable you need, odds are it's an older "4-pin Amphenol" style connector type or the somewhat newer "4-pin XLR" you need.
