microphones for poetry/children

I am a teacher of elementary school students. We sometimes have poetry reading/coffeehouse nights for parents. I am looking to write a grant for a microphone that we can set on the stage rather than have children hold it and cause feedback and other horrid noise. What kind of mic do you reccommend?
