Private Microphone

by Jeff
(Florida)

I am looking for a mic that will allow me to record in public places like on a plane or subway...kind of like a court reporter mic that covers your mouth. What kind of mic is this or is it an accessory?

Regards.

dynamic microphone if your recorder will work with one
by: Anonymous

A dynamic vocal microphone which you can get for about 30 USD are often highly directional so will pick up your voice without all the background noise. The only problems is whether they will have enough output for the recording device that you are using. I recommend for instance the Son F-V420 which is highly directional and very cheap. But it may not work with the mp3 recorder (?) that you are using. You may be able to try one out in the shop.

Most cheap recording devices, such as mp3 player/recorders use plug in power electrec condenser microphones and, as I just wrote, it is more difficult to get a cheap directional condenser microphone AFAIK.

I am looking for one myself. Does anyone have any recommendations?
