SONY ECM-DS70P ELECTRET STEREO MICROPHONE

Does anyone know whether this mic will work with a Sony Hi8 Handycam that has a plug in power mic receptacle. It is touted as being for digital recording devices but I can't seem to find a stereo mic labeled for the Hi8 camcorder. I suspect that this mic would work for this purpose. Shouldn't matter whether it is being recorded digital or analog. Anyone in the know on this question.
