Using a Vintage mic for online chatting
(New York City)
I have a vintage mic with a 1/4" mono plug. I've connected it to my Gateway desktop computer via 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. I know the mic works (I tested it with my guitar amp) but neither Yahoo Messenger nor Skype can "hear" it, so neither can whoever I'm calling. Does anyone know if such a mic might have an ohm impedance that's incompatible with a PC? I tried other industrial PA-style mics, and they didn't work either. I bought a cheap Dynex mic (with a mini-plug) and although it does work, it just doesn't work very well.
Any suggestions, anybody?
